Goofus glass was made and popular in the late 1890s to early 1900s before carnival glass was discovered. Goofus glass was not the original name but an acquired name for these pieces. Goofus glass is pressed glass that was painted by cold, unfired paint.
Antique Goofus Glass Cabbage Puffy with Pontil Mark. This vase is of the cabbage puffy rose design and painted in gold and red. You should never wash goofus glass or repaint it. This vase has a very noticeable, rough pontil mark.
This vase has no chips or cracks. It has minor flaking of the paint, which is expected. Most vases of this age have significant more flaking of the paint so this vase is considered a prime vase to own.
